About Us
Overview
The Northern First Nations Alliance (NFNA) represents area nations working collaboratively to address social, economic, and health disparities in Northwest BC. The Legacy Project is a transformative initiative designed to provide culturally appropriate, trauma-informed substance misuse withdrawal and treatment services tailored to the unique needs of First Nation communities.
History & Background
The Northern First Nations Alliance (NFNA) was formally established in 2020 as a collaborative initiative between five Nations; Haisla, Nisga’a, Tsimshian, Gitxaala, and Gitxsan. It established itself as an incorporated society on August 5, 2022.
The NFNA was created to address critical social disparities and to advocate for the needs of our communities through shared leadership and a collective approach. Rooted in cultural values and community-driven solutions, the organization has evolved into a vital network that fosters regional development and promotes equitable access to resources and opportunities.

The NFNA's efforts are focused on four key pillars:
Housing
Advocating for safe, affordable, and culturally appropriate housing solutions.
Employment, Education & Training

Developing workforce capacity and creating pathways to sustainable employment.
Youth and Elders
Empowering youth as future leaders while honouring and preserving the wisdom of Elders.
Health and Wellness

Establishing initiatives including the Legacy Project, which aims to create accessible, culturally sensitive withdrawal, treatment and recovery services.
